Pre-K Counts Assistant Teacher

More than 1,500 children receive early childhood education and child care services each day at LVCC. We’re the largest full day, year-round, early education and child care provider in the region, with 30 convenient locations in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Each of our centers either participates in Pennsylvania's Keystone STARS or are working toward STARS, continuously building a higher standard of measure for our programs.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the planning and implementation of a day care program for children in a manner that contributes to their growth and development and is consistent with the goals and philosophy of Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers, following program policies in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Care regulations, and where applicable Keystone STARS regulations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participates in creating an atmosphere where the children develop confidence, independence and responsibility.

  • Actively participates in daily classroom maintenance.

  • Works in conjunction with other staff in preparation of materials for daily activities

  • Maintains high standards of professional ethics and confidentiality in regard to children, staff and parents.

  • Supervises, directs, and is involved with small and large groups of children in both planned and spontaneous activities.

  • Works with any child needing special attention in conjunction with other staff and consultants as needed.

  • Supports a seamless transition for extended child care children from Pre-K Counts to General Preschool

  • Cooperates and is flexible to ensure that center coverage is adequate and reflects changing needs of families served.

  • Attends to physical and hygienic needs of the child including providing a pleasant daily rest time.

  • Attends workshops trainings, and conferences for professional development.

  • Attends parent meetings and supports extracurricular activities of the center or agency upon request.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CDA required / Associates preferred

  • 2500 hours documented experience working with young children preferred

  • Maintains appropriate physical & TB testing requirements
